I am someone who has gone through much as a youth, having been exposed to the negative effects of bad influence. Because of my past, it shaped the way I am now living my life. I didn't choose teaching as a profession because I had a great desire to teach young children, but because I wanted to make a difference in the lives of people who needed the extra attention and support to get themselves on the right track in life - Just like how I needed a special someone to reach out to help me.
Being focused on that, I have a great passion for working among at-risk youths, and those whom people have labelled "bad", "naughty" or as "rotten apples". To me, there is no such thing as a bad student but only educators who give up on students whom they cannot handle. As such, my approach to teaching and discipline is unique and I constantly tweak and improve on my approach to teaching so as to cater to the varying needs I see in my class. I may not have the best of skills as yet, but as I teach, so do I learn. My philosophy to teaching is simple: Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. To the parents of my students: I try to maintain close communication with the parents of my students because that is what I would want if I was a parent myself. Mutual trust, I believe, is important in this teacher-parent relationship, so as to allow me to nurture and guide your child in a way that both of us know is best for him/her. To my students: I hope to make lessons interesting and fun for all of you. But, I need you to have the discipline and responsibility as a good student to make the best out of it. Do your part, and enjoy the process of learning. Let's all have a great year together!
